Smart Door Lock Installation and Access Control in Dubai

The kind of property this work goes into. What the system does in yours is decided at design stage, from the rooms and how you use them.

The front door is where a home decides who it trusts. A well-planned access system makes that decision quietly: family walk straight in, guests are expected, and everyone else stays on the doorstep. No keys under mats. No spare copies you've lost count of. Just a door that knows the difference.

Quick answer
In brief
Smart door locks and access control replace keys with fingerprint, PIN, card or app entry, with a mechanical override kept as the fallback and every entry logged. Vertex Automation assesses each door in a Dubai property, specifies locks that suit its material, thickness and frame, and extends the same credentials to pedestrian gates, driveway gates and garages. Access can be permanent, scheduled or temporary.

How it works
Designed as one joined-up system, not a list of devices.
01
We start with the doors you already have
Plenty of shops in Dubai will sell you a smart lock. Our work starts where the box ends: we're installers, and we treat the lock as one component in an access system. We begin with the doors you actually have, material, thickness, frame, existing hardware, and specify locks that fit them properly, rather than asking you to change your doors to suit a product. Fingerprint, PIN, card and app entry are matched to the people who will use each door, and a mechanical override stays in place as the final fallback.
02
What the door can do once it is part of the system
Because we build access into the wider automation system, the door does more than open. It can disarm the alarm for a recognised family member, switch on the entrance lights after dark, and log every entry so you always know who came and went, at home or away. Credentials are managed the same way for everyone the property receives: permanent for family, scheduled for household staff, temporary for guests and tenants, withdrawn in moments when circumstances change.

Doors and profiles live in the same interface as the rest of the room. Withdrawing somebody's access is a change made in a minute, not a locksmith visit.
Our own installation

Who is at the edge of the property, and who gets through it, is one question. Locks, cameras and the intercom answer it together or they answer it badly.

What it gives you
What changes at the front door
Hardware is the means. These are the things you notice once the system is live.
01
Keys become optional
Enter with a fingerprint, a PIN, your phone or a card, whichever suits each person. The mechanical key still exists, kept as a backup instead of a daily dependency. Children stop losing keys. You stop carrying them.
02
Every entry, accounted for
Each code and credential is personal. The system records who opened which door and when, and can notify you the moment it happens, when the children arrive home from school, when the cleaner leaves. Quiet awareness, without cameras in the hallway.
03
Access that fits your household
Family have permanent access. A guest receives a code that works for the weekend and then stops. Household staff enter during working hours only. When someone no longer needs access, you remove it in seconds, no locksmith, no rekeying, no awkward conversation.
04
One approach for every entrance
Front door, pedestrian gate, driveway gate, garage, store room and staff entrance can all run on the same logic, managed from one app. Arrive once, and everything that should open, opens.
Scope
What an access project covers, door by door
Set at design stage, from the property and your priorities, never from a fixed package.
- Door-by-door site assessment and lock specification
- Smart locks for timber, glass, aluminium and composite doors
- Keypad and PIN code entry
- Fingerprint and biometric readers
- Card and fob access for offices
- Pedestrian gate, driveway gate and garage integration
- Video intercom and CCTV linking
- Remote door release and entry notifications from one app
- Temporary and scheduled access for guests, staff and tenants
- Mechanical override retention, documentation and handover
Project detail
Access control is most useful when the door talks to the rest of the building. In a Vertex system, a recognised entry can disarm security, bring up entrance and corridor lighting, and set the climate for arrival; the last person leaving can secure the door, arm the alarm and shut down the lights with a single action. The video intercom shows you who is at the door or gate, and the same screen or app releases the lock. One system, one interface, not a separate app for every entrance.
In a new build or major renovation, we join early enough to influence door and frame selection, run concealed wiring for intercoms and readers, and coordinate with your joinery and gate contractors so nothing ends up surface-mounted as an afterthought. In an existing property, most doors can accept a quality smart lock without replacement; we assess each door's material, thickness and frame condition first, and we'll say where a retrofit lock will work well, and where changing the hardware is the honest recommendation.
In Dubai
Locks & Access in Dubai
Climate, regulation and the way this city builds all shape the specification, before any equipment is chosen.
Dubai households run on more comings and goings than most: housekeepers, nannies, drivers, maintenance visits, deliveries, and family travelling in and out. Personal codes and scheduled access suit this rhythm far better than a bowl of spare keys. For owners who travel often, remote release and entry logs mean the house can receive a contractor or a delivery without anyone waiting at home. The same logic serves holiday homes and short lets, where a code that appears for one stay and expires at checkout beats couriering keys across the city.
Two practical notes. Exterior keypads and gate readers must be specified for heat, humidity and dust, so we select outdoor-rated hardware and shade or recess it wherever possible. And where access control connects to CCTV, security-camera work in Dubai is regulated by SIRA, with requirements that depend on the property type, we advise you on what applies to yours as part of the design.
Where we do this work
Locks & Access projects run across Dubai, and some communities change the method enough that we keep notes on them: Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina. The full coverage list is on areas we serve.
Questions
Smart locks, the questions we hear
Usually, yes. Most timber and composite doors accept a smart lock with little or no modification, and there are dedicated options for glass doors and aluminium frames, which are common in Dubai apartments and offices. We assess each door's thickness, material, frame and existing hardware during the site visit, then specify a lock that fits it properly. If a particular door is a poor candidate, we say so and propose an alternative; we won't force a fit.
A properly installed smart lock is at least as secure as the mechanical lock it replaces, and easier to manage honestly. The physical bolt work is unchanged or upgraded, credentials are individual, not shared, and a lost phone or leaked code is cancelled in moments, which is more than can be said for a lost key. What matters is specification and fitting: a lock suited to the door, installed square and true, on a properly secured network. That is installation work, and it is the part we control.
No. The lock itself works at the door: fingerprint, code and card entry all function with no connection at all, because the credential check happens in the lock. The internet is only involved when you want remote features, releasing the door from elsewhere, receiving entry notifications, issuing a code while you are away. If your connection drops, everyone still gets in and out normally, and remote access resumes on its own when the connection returns.
The locks we specify run on their own batteries, so a mains power cut doesn't affect them. You are warned well before a battery runs down, through the app and at the lock itself, and replacing batteries takes minutes. Many locks also accept emergency power from outside through a standard port, and a mechanical override remains as the final fallback, so a flat battery is an inconvenience, not a lockout.
Each person gets their own credential, a permanent code or fingerprint for family, a temporary code for a weekend guest, scheduled access for household staff that works only during agreed hours. Codes are created and cancelled from your phone in moments, so a change of housekeeper never means changing the locks. And because every credential is individual, the entry log always shows exactly who used which door, and when.
