Home Automation in Dubai, Designed as One System

A calm living space controlled from a single interface

The kind of property this work goes into. What the system does in yours is decided at design stage, from the rooms and how you use them.

Illustrative photography

Home automation links the systems your house already runs on, lighting, air conditioning, curtains, security and entertainment, into one designed whole: a single app, wall keypads that make sense, and scenes that set entire rooms with one press. Done properly, it's not a collection of gadgets. It's a home that quietly takes care of itself, planned as one system from the start.

Quick answer

In brief

Home automation brings a property's lighting, air conditioning, curtains, security and entertainment onto one control system, with a single app and wall keypads behind it. Vertex Automation designs, installs and programmes these systems for villas, apartments and offices in Dubai, new build or retrofit. Each project starts with a consultation and a site visit, and the scope is written before equipment is specified.

How it works

Designed as one joined-up system, not a list of devices.

  1. 01

What can actually be brought under control

Almost everything powered in a home can be brought under control, which is what home automation means in practice. Lighting is dimmed and scened room by room. Air conditioning follows schedules and occupancy instead of running flat out all day. Curtains and blinds move with the sun. Cameras, the video intercom and the door locks live in the same interface as everything else, so answering the gate or closing the house for the night happens from one place. Multi-room audio, the cinema and garden lighting join the same logic. Each of these is a service we deliver on its own, but the value multiplies when they are planned together, one press doing the work of ten.

  2. 02

Villa, apartment or office: the property decides

The property decides the approach. A villa is a multi-floor project: climate zoning, dozens of curtain openings, a gate, a garden, often a cinema, and different access for family and staff. An apartment is a retrofit exercise inside a finished tower, wireless devices, battery motors and a thermostat swap, designed within the building's rules. An office is about meeting rooms, occupancy control and access, timed around the fit-out programme. Each has its own page on this site, because each deserves more than a paragraph, and this page is the map that connects them.

A living room media wall beside a wall-mounted touch panel showing lighting, AC, music and curtain controls

One plate beside the media wall, holding the lighting, the cooling, the music and the curtains for that room. Where the controls sit, and how many of them a room needs, is settled at design stage.

How a project runs, from consultation to handover

Every project follows the same sequence. It begins with preparing for a consultation, then a walk through the property, because the design should come from how you live, not from a package. The design stage produces drawings, a device schedule and a written scope. Installation is coordinated with your contractor on a new build, or staged room by room in a house you are already living in. Programming comes next: scenes named in plain language, schedules matched to your routine, refined with you in the rooms. Handover closes with documentation and training, and the team that installed the system stays the team that answers when it needs attention.

What moves the cost of a system

What a system costs is set by scope, not by a rate card, which is why we don't publish package prices. The factors that move the number are the size of the property, how many rooms and zones come under control, whether the work is wired, wireless or a mix of both, the count of devices involved, keypads, curtain motors, thermostats, cameras, and whether walls are open or finished. A site visit settles all of this, and you receive a written, itemised scope before any equipment is specified.

A calm, modern bedroom with neutral, luxurious decor

Where scenes earn their keep. A goodnight press settles a room like this one: lights down, shading closed, doors secured, without a walk around the house.

What it gives you

What changes once the house runs as one system

Hardware is the means. These are the things you notice once the system is live.

  • 01

    One interface for everything

Lighting, cooling, curtains, music and security respond from a single app and from keypads on the wall. A Goodnight scene locks the doors, lowers the blinds and switches everything off. No hunting through three apps to close the house down.

  • 02

    Comfort that runs itself

Cooling follows a schedule instead of running flat out all day. Curtains close against the afternoon sun before rooms heat up. Lights shift warmer as evening arrives. You stop adjusting the house, because the house has already adjusted.

  • 03

    Security in the same picture

Cameras, video intercom and door sensors live in the same interface as everything else. Answer the gate from your phone, whether you are upstairs or abroad. An away mode simulates occupancy with lighting and curtains while you travel.

  • 04

A system that grows with you

Because the design is documented from day one, adding a room, a cinema or garden lighting later is straightforward. You are not locked into replacing everything, the system extends along the lines already planned for it.

Scope

What a whole-home project covers

Set at design stage, from the property and your priorities, never from a fixed package.

  • Lighting control and scene programming
  • AC and climate integration with scheduling
  • Curtain and blind automation
  • CCTV and video intercom
  • Smart locks and access control
  • Multi-room audio and home cinema integration
  • Voice control setup
  • Wall keypads and touch panels
  • Home network and Wi-Fi design
  • System documentation and handover training

Project detail

This page describes the whole; each part has its own depth. Lighting design, curtain automation, climate control, security and home cinema are all services we deliver individually, but they are engineered on one platform, so a project can begin with any of them and still add up to a coherent home. One control system, one network, one set of documentation. That is the difference between a smart home and a drawer full of remotes.

In a new build or major renovation we join before first-fix wiring, when containment, keypad positions and panel locations can still be planned into the walls rather than worked around them. That is where a cabled backbone earns its place: wired control for lighting, shading and keypads that stays dependable for decades. In a finished home the toolkit changes, not the outcome: wireless modules behind existing switches, battery curtain motors, thermostats replaced like for like on the wiring already there. Most real projects end up hybrid, wired where the building allows it, wireless where it does not, and the survey tells us which is which before anything is proposed. Retrofit work is staged room by room so the house stays liveable throughout.

In Dubai

Home Automation in Dubai

Climate, regulation and the way this city builds all shape the specification, before any equipment is chosen.

Cooling typically dominates a Dubai home's electricity use, which makes automation more than a convenience here. Scheduling the AC around occupancy, closing curtains against direct sun and shutting down empty rooms all reduce waste without anyone having to think about it, useful year-round, and especially through the summer months when many households travel and the home runs unattended.

Security cameras in Dubai are regulated by SIRA, and what applies differs by property type and community. We explain the requirements relevant to your home and shape the CCTV and intercom scope around them. In apartments we also help you navigate building-management and landlord approvals, and in villa communities we prepare the drawings and technical details that community management typically asks to see before external work.

Where we do this work

Home Automation projects run across Dubai, and some communities change the method enough that we keep notes on them: Dubai Hills Estate, Arabian Ranches. The full coverage list is on areas we serve.

Questions

Home automation, common questions

In a whole-home project it typically covers lighting control, air-conditioning integration, curtain and blind automation, CCTV and video intercom, door locks, multi-room audio and home cinema, all programmed to work together. Scenes and schedules sit on top: a single press for Movie, Away or Goodnight. The exact scope is defined at the design stage, based on your property and priorities, not on a fixed package.

There's no honest fixed answer, because the cost is set by scope. The factors that move it are the size of the property, the number of rooms and zones brought under control, wired versus wireless versus hybrid installation, the count of devices such as keypads, curtain motors, thermostats and cameras, and whether the work happens with walls open or in a finished home. Two properties of the same size can carry very different scopes. We survey first, then give you a written, itemised proposal, so the number reflects your home, not a package.

In most cases, yes. Wireless control modules fit behind your existing switches, battery-powered motors move curtains and blinds, and a smart thermostat usually replaces the existing controller on the wiring already in the wall. A typical retrofit needs no chasing of walls and no redecoration, and the work is staged so the home stays comfortable throughout. Where a wired approach genuinely serves you better, a new build, or a renovation with ceilings already open, we'll say so and explain why.

Neither is better everywhere; they suit different situations. Wired control is the most dependable and is the natural choice while walls are open, on a new build or during renovation, because the infrastructure disappears into the building and serves it for decades. Wireless has matured into a solid tool for finished homes: quick to install, kind to interiors, straightforward to extend. Most real projects are hybrids, a cabled backbone where it can be run, wireless at the edges where it cannot. The right split follows from the property, which is exactly what the site survey is for.

The system keeps working. Core functions, lighting, scenes, keypads, schedules, climate control, run on a processor inside the house, not in the cloud, so they don't depend on your connection. What you temporarily lose is remote access from outside the home, such as checking cameras while you are away. When the connection returns, remote access resumes on its own.
